Seasons Greetings Pinot Noir fans! It’s been a great year at Waits-Mast Family Cellars and we wanted to celebrate the holidays by passing along some specials for our loyal fans and customers. If you’ve got some Pinot Noir-lovers on your gift list (or those you’re trying to convert), then we’re going to help with the following deals:

Shipping Discount on 3 or More Bottles

Purchase three or more bottles of Waits-Mast Pinot Noir and UPS ground shipping is complimentary. Just start shopping in our webstore and the discount will automatically kick in once you add three or more bottles to your cart. This offer is good through 12/28/11.

2009 5th Vintage Five-Pack

2009 was our fifth vintage of winemaking and we celebrated it by making Pinot Noir from five different vineyards in Mendocino, Sonoma and Santa Barbara Counties. And a great vintage it was — these wines are already getting accolades from the San Francisco Chronicle and Wine Enthusiast. Now’s your chance to enjoy or give this five-pack, which includes each of our five new releases for a special price of $190. The 5-pack qualifies for complimentary shipping.

Mendocino County Three-Pack

Sample each of the three single-vineyard 2009 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir wines from Mendocino County, including two from the Anderson Valley appellation, all at a special package price of $112 (also qualifies for complimentary shipping).

Case discount

We offer a standard 10% discount on orders of one case or more. Mixed cases qualify.

SHIPPING INFO

If you want your packages to arrive by December 25, please place your orders as soon as possible. For ground shipping to the midwest, we recommend that you place your order by December 15. For ground shipping within California, place your order by 12 noon, December 19.

At the moment, we are only able to ship to the states of Illinois and California, but we are working on adding some additional states (NY, WA are next) in the coming weeks and months. If you are in one of those other 48 states, another option is to purchase our wine through online retailers like K&L Wines that carry our wines and can ship to a large number of states.

Happy shopping and happy holidays!

Summer Hours at Waits-Mast by valleyfog

Waits-Mast Pinot Noir

Just a quick note that Waits-Mast Family Cellars will be closing up our webstore on June 30 for the summer and will re-open in the early fall.

Because the warmer weather in the summer is not conducive to shipping wine, and because we’ll be doing some work on our webstore in the next couple of months, our online store will be on summer hiatus. That means the current releases below will be available until June 30 and no longer available online after that.

Most are in limited quantity and will sell out soon, so if you have some favorites below, get ’em while you can at our online shop.

  • 2007 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills: 6 bottles left
  • 2008 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir, Hein Vineyard, Anderson Valley: 7 bottles left
  • 2008 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills: 58 bottles left
  • 2009 Waits-Mast Blanc de Blancs, Split Rock Vineyard, Sonoma Coast: 36 bottles left

After this brief hiatus, we will re-launch the webstore in the fall with our new 2009 pinot noirs – almost 200 cases of pinot from five different vineyards. Because we are transitioning our license and seller’s permit, we will no longer be able to sell the older vintages listed above. We’ll do a blog post or two about the whole arduous process, but, we’ll save that for another day!

And of course, if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, you can find our wines at local retailers SF Wine Trading Company, Canyon Market and Draeger’s Markets in Blackhawk and Los Altos.

New Wine Enthusiast Reviews for 2008 Waits-Mast Pinot Noir by valleyfog

December 15, 2010

The latest online ratings for Wine Enthusiast magazine came out today and two of Waits-Mast Pinot Noir wines were favorably reviewed by west coast wine reviewer Steve Heimoff. We had gotten a heads up about the scores awhile back, but the full reviews weren’t published until today. Without further ado, here they are:

Waits-Mast 2008 La Encantada Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) – “92 points: Lots of zesty acidity in this wine, which gives it a mouthwatering raciness. It’s bone dry but ultrarich and ripe in cherries, raspberries and oak. There’s a slightly bretty funkiness that adds a mushroomy appeal. Should develop over the next six years.  – S.H. (12/15/2010)”

Waits-Mast 2008 Amber Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) – “87 points: Soft and fruity, with raspberry, cherry, Dr. Pepper and oak flavors. It has the jammy, marmalade taste of freshly crushed berries, with citrusy acidity. The oak is front and center. Might develop with a few years in the bottle.  – S.H. (12/15/2010)”

To see the reviews on Wine Enthusiast’s website, click here.

We’re very excited about these reviews and Heimoff does a great job of describing the flavors in these wines. They are also in short supply – we have about nine cases of the La Encantada and four cases of the Amber Ridge left in stock, so get ’em while you can!

Happy Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving this week, the annual tradition of holiday shopping is already upon us. A few strands of lights are starting to appear, holiday songs are popping up on the radio and Christmas lists are already being made at our home.

If you’re getting your holiday gift-giving plans going, we wanted to make sure you knew our shipping deadlines for Waits-Mast pinot noir.

While it’s too late to have wine sent in time for Thanksgiving, there are a number of retail outlets where you can still pick up a bottle or two. Take a look at our website for a list of stores.

If you are planning to have wine sent to you for the winter holidays via ground delivery, please be mindful of the weather. If there are extremely cold temperatures outside, then we recommend that you either have you wine sent at a different time or expedite your order by using overnight delivery.

If you are trying to ship to have our wine arrive before or by December 25, follow this time line:

TIMELINE** Orders Due Ship Date
GROUND 4-7 Days 14-DEC 15-DEC
3DAY 3 Days 20-DEC 20-DEC
2DAY 2 Days 21-DEC 21-DEC
OVERNIGHT 1 Day 22-DEC 22-DEC
3-TIER* 3-6 8-DEC 9-DEC

*  AZ orders may take longer based upon address
**  Timeline shown is in business days from the ship date
***  Orders are due by 12pm pacific

Not sure what to get for that special someone? Here’s a guide to our current releases:

These wines are all available in our webstore. If you’re in the Bay Area or Chicago, you may find them at the retailers listed on our website. Not sure if we ship to your state? Email us at brian@waitsmast.com to find out if we can ship to your area.

If you end up serving Waits-Mast to your family and friends for Thanksgiving or during the winter holidays, we’d love to hear your stories (and see your photos) documenting what you drank and what you paired it with. We’ll feature a selection of those stories in a future post.

Sign up on our mailing list for more details and access to special allocations and other news. If you want to get more regular updates from us, become a fan of Waits-Mast on Facebook and follow us on Twitter @WaitsMast.

Shipping Update: Last Chance for SF Local/Pick Up Option by valleyfog

With the Crushpad move to Napa comes a move for the logistics facility, which will now be located in American Canyon (just south of Napa). Waits-Mast inventory will be moved up to this new facility sometime next week and after that, we will no longer offer the “local/pick up” shipping option on our webstore.

This option has been available for customers in the San Francisco Bay Area who wanted to pick up their wine orders at the SF warehouse and avoid paying any shipping charges.

That option will be going away by early next week, so we recommend that if you want to take advantage of this, order wines at our webstore no later than Friday, July 16.

Waits-Mast on the Shelves

Within a few weeks, we may be able to offer a work-around for free local deliveries for SF customers. Please contact us in the future to arrange for either a delivery or drop-off for orders in and around San Francisco.

Either way, we continue to make our wines available in retail locations around the Bay Area and hope to expand that availability to other parts of California and the country as our winery continues to grow. Our latest release, the 2008 Amber Ridge Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, is now available at the San Francisco Wine Trading Company in the West Portal/Sunset district and at Red + White wine bar in Glen Park in San Francisco. Our 2008 Hein Vineyard Pinot Noir is available at Canyon Market in Glen Park and Draeger’s Market in Los Altos.
